Before You Begin

To use RENDR, you’ll need:

  • A compatible LiDAR-enabled iPhone or iPad

  • A RENDR account

  • The latest version of the RENDR app

  • Adequate lighting throughout the space

You can continue working on your projects from any web browser at:

Create a Project

After signing in:

  1. Create a new project.

  2. Add one or more spaces.

  3. Open the space you want to scan.

Each floor or separate area should generally be captured as its own space.

Capture Your First Space

To begin scanning:

  1. Open the space.

  2. Tap Capture Space.

  3. Complete the calibration prompts.

  4. Begin walking through the space.

For the best results:

  • Walk at a slow, steady pace.

  • Hold the device comfortably in front of you.

  • Keep the camera as level as possible.

  • Move continuously through connected rooms.

  • Ensure walls, windows, and doors remain visible.

  • Scan each floor of a building separately.

There is no need to repeatedly scan walls that have already been captured.

Good lighting and smooth movement will generally produce the best results.

Review Your Project

When scanning is complete, RENDR automatically generates your project documentation.

Each project includes:

  • Floor plans

  • Wall elevations

  • Room information

  • Measurements

  • Photos

  • Detected objects

Take a few moments to review your project before leaving the job site.

Refine Your Floor Plan with Flex

Every project can be refined using RENDR Flex.

Flex allows you to make adjustments without rescanning.

You can:

  • Edit existing walls

  • Draw new walls

  • Add Room Dividers

  • Add and edit doors, windows, and openings

  • Edit flooring areas

  • Move, rotate, and resize objects

  • Review room parameters

  • View wall and room elevations

  • Switch between 2D and 3D views

  • Add markup, notes, symbols, and custom dimensions

For detailed editing instructions, see the RENDR Flex section of the Help Center.

Add Photos & Markup

RENDR helps document more than just measurements.

Projects can include:

  • Job-site photos

  • Text annotations

  • Freehand markup

  • Symbols

  • Custom dimensions

  • Pinned notes (where available)

Keeping photos and markup with the floor plan creates a complete record of existing conditions for everyone working on the project.

Export Your Project

When you’re finished reviewing your project, RENDR offers several export options.

Available exports include:

  • PDF

  • DXF

  • Chief Architect

  • 2020 Design

  • ProKitchen

  • RENDR Archive

Available export options may vary depending on your subscription.

For software-specific workflows, see the Export articles in the Help Center.

Continue Working on the Web

Projects are available through the RENDR Web App at:

From the web app you can:

  • Continue editing with Flex

  • Review photos

  • View wall and room elevations

  • Export projects

  • Manage projects

  • Manage your team

  • Access supported integrations

The web app provides the same project information captured in the field, making it easy to continue your work from the office.

Invite Someone Else to Capture a Space

Invite to Capture allows someone else to collect scan data for your project.

You can invite:

  • Homeowners

  • Project managers

  • Designers

  • Trade partners

The recipient does not need a RENDR subscription.

To send an invitation:

  1. Open a project.

  2. Select Invite to Capture.

  3. Enter the recipient’s name and email.

  4. Send the invitation.

Once the scan is complete, the captured space is added directly to your project for review and editing.

Best Practices

For the best experience:

  • Scan with smooth, continuous movement.

  • Use adequate lighting.

  • Review your project before leaving the site.

  • Complete any necessary refinements in Flex.

  • Export your project when you’re ready to share or continue your workflow.
