Overview
Flex provides two ways to view your floor plan:
2D View — used for creating and editing your floor plan.
3D View — used to review and inspect the finished layout.
Both views display the same project.
When to Use Each View
Use 2D to… | Use 3D to… |
Edit walls | Review the finished layout |
Add doors, windows, and openings | Verify wall alignment |
Create flooring | Inspect room proportions |
Add markup | Review door and window placement |
Switching Between 2D & 3D
Select the 2D / 3D toggle in the editor to switch views.
On iOS, select the 3D option in the right hand toolbar:
Opening 3D displays the current state of your floor plan—including unsaved edits—so you can review your work before saving.
Editing in 2D
Use the 2D view for all floor plan editing, including:
Walls
Room dividers
Doors, windows, and openings
Flooring
Objects
Measurements
Markup
Reviewing in 3D
The 3D view is designed for visual review.
Use it to check:
Overall room layout
Wall alignment
Door and window placement
Furniture placement
Anything that looks out of place
If you find an issue, simply return to 2D to make the correction.
Can I Edit in 3D?
No.
The 3D view is read-only.
On the Web editor, you can select a wall to view its information, but geometry cannot be edited until you return to the 2D workspace.

Best Practices
Review your floor plan in 3D before exporting.
Use 3D to inspect the model—not to make edits.
Switch back to 2D whenever changes are needed.
Review the project from multiple angles instead of only looking from above.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the 3D model update automatically?
Yes. The 3D view reflects the current state of your floor plan. On Web, this includes unsaved edits when the 3D view is opened.
Why can’t I edit in 3D?
All editing tools are available in the 2D workspace, where changes can be made with greater precision.
Should I always review in 3D?
It’s recommended, especially before exporting or sharing your project. A quick walkthrough in 3D can help identify issues that may be difficult to notice in a top-down view.
