Video Tutorial
Heres a quick video overview of editing walls, moving wall intersections, and adding walls.
Before You Begin
Open the space you want to edit.
Switch to Layout mode.
Select the Select tool.
Most wall edits automatically update:
Connected walls
Room boundaries
Flooring areas
Interior and exterior dimensions
Hosted doors and windows
Wall labels
Selecting a Wall
Select a wall by clicking (Web) or tapping (iPhone or iPad) anywhere along the wall.
When a wall is selected, Flex displays editing controls that may include:
Wall endpoints
Shared wall corners
Measurement pills
Dimension guides to nearby walls
These controls allow you to reposition the wall, adjust its length, or enter precise measurements.
Selecting a Wall Corner
Wall corners connect two or more walls together.
There are two types of corners in Flex:
Wall Endpoint
A wall endpoint belongs to a single wall.
Moving an endpoint changes only that wall’s geometry.
This is typically used to:
Extend a wall
Shorten a wall
Reconnect a wall to another wall
Shared Wall Corner
A shared wall corner connects two or more walls together.
Moving a shared corner adjusts every connected wall at the same time while preserving the corner connection.
This is useful when:
Squaring a room
Correcting scan drift
Aligning multiple walls
Moving an entire room corner
💡Pro Tip: If you’re trying to reposition an entire room corner, make sure you’ve selected the shared wall corner—not just the wall itself.
Understanding Wall Controls
When a wall is selected, several editing controls may appear depending on the wall and its connections.
Based on the current Flex implementations, I’d use the actual UI colors rather than generic names. There are a couple caveats because some controls change color depending on state.
Control | Color | Description | Used For |
🔵 Wall Body | Blue highlight when selected | The selected wall itself. | Move the entire wall while keeping it parallel. |
🔵 / 🟢 Wall Endpoint | Blue (free endpoint) or Green (shared/snapped endpoint) | The end of an individual wall. | Extend, shorten, or reconnect a wall. |
🟢 Shared Wall Corner | Green | A corner shared by multiple connected walls. | Move connected walls together. |
📏 Measurement Pill | White measurement pill with blue accent when active | An editable measurement displayed during editing. | Enter exact wall lengths or positions. |
🟢 / 🟡 Snap Indicator | Green = existing corner or endpointYellow = wall centerline / T-junction preview | Appears while dragging. | Shows where the wall or corner will snap before you release it. |
The available controls vary depending on whether you’ve selected a wall, an endpoint, or a shared corner.
Move an Entire Wall
Moving an entire wall changes its position while keeping its length and angle the same.
Common uses include:
Widening a room
Narrowing a hallway
Aligning exterior walls
Correcting scan alignment
Rather than changing the wall itself, Flex automatically adjusts connected walls whenever possible to preserve the surrounding floor plan.
Drag a Wall
Select the wall.
Drag the wall to its new position.
Release when the wall reaches the desired location.
As you move the wall, Flex keeps it parallel to its original position.
Nearby walls automatically stretch or shorten to maintain connected geometry.
Move a Wall Using an Exact Measurement
Whenever you have field measurements, entering an exact value is the most accurate editing method.
Select the wall.
Select the measurement pill you want to edit.
Enter the desired measurement.
Press Enter (Web) or Done (iPhone/iPad).
Flex automatically repositions the wall to satisfy the new measurement whenever the requested edit produces valid wall geometry.
If the requested measurement would create an impossible floor plan, Flex prevents the edit and leaves the existing geometry unchanged.
Change the Length of a Wall
Wall length can be adjusted visually by dragging an endpoint or precisely by entering an exact measurement.
Option 1 — Drag a Wall Endpoint
Use this method when making visual adjustments.
Select the wall.
Drag one of the wall endpoints.
Release to complete the edit.
While dragging, Flex may snap to:
Existing wall corners
Existing wall endpoints
The middle of another wall to create a new connection
Common wall angles
Snap indicators appear during the drag to preview the connection before you release.
Option 2 — Enter an Exact Wall Length
Use this method whenever you know the finished wall length.
Select the wall.
Select the wall-length measurement pill.
Enter the desired wall length.
Press Enter (Web) or Done (iPhone/iPad).
If the requested length would create invalid wall geometry, Flex prevents the edit.
Move a Shared Wall Corner
Shared wall corners allow multiple connected walls to move together.
Typical uses include:
Squaring a room
Correcting scan drift
Aligning several connected walls
Adjusting an entire room corner
Select the shared wall corner.
Drag it to the desired location.
Release to complete the edit.
Every wall connected to that corner updates together.
Depending on the edit, Flex also updates nearby room boundaries, flooring areas, dimensions, and hosted doors and windows automatically.
Handle / Indicator | Description | Use |
▬ Wall Body | The wall segment itself. | Move the entire wall while keeping its length and orientation. |
🔵 Blue Vertex | End of an individual wall. | Extend, shorten, rotate, or connect a single wall. |
🟢 Green Vertex | Shared intersection between two or more connected walls. | Move an entire room corner or multiple connected walls together. |
🟡 Amber / Yellow Indicator | Appears while dragging or drawing when snapping to the middle of another wall. | Creates a T-junction when the edit is completed. |
Note: The amber/yellow indicator is only shown while snapping during wall drawing or endpoint edits. It is not a selectable editing handle.
Wall Snapping
To help maintain accurate floor plans, Flex automatically snaps walls and corners during editing.
Depending on the edit you’re making, walls may snap to:
Existing wall corners
Existing wall endpoints
The middle of another wall to create a new connection
Common wall angles
Nearby geometry that maintains clean wall connections
Snap indicators appear while dragging to preview where the wall or corner will connect before you release.
Temporarily Disable Snapping
Web
Hold Shift while dragging to temporarily disable snapping for finer control.
iPhone & iPad
Individual snap behaviors can be enabled or disabled from Settings while editing your floor plan.
If you drag beyond the current snap tolerance, Flex also releases the active snap automatically, allowing you to continue positioning the wall freely.
💡Pro Tip: Snapping is designed to help create clean, connected floor plans. Only disable it when you need precise manual placement.
Understanding Movement Limits
Flex prevents edits that would create invalid floor plan geometry.
While dragging a wall or corner, you may notice that movement stops before reaching your cursor.
This is expected behavior.
Movement limits help prevent edits that could break the floor plan, including:
Walls crossing through other walls
Overlapping wall geometry
Walls shrinking below the minimum allowable length
Doors and windows extending beyond their host wall
Invalid room geometry
If a wall stops moving, inspect nearby walls, corners, doors, or windows that may be limiting the edit.
What Updates Automatically?
One of the advantages of Flex is that most wall edits automatically update related parts of the floor plan.
Depending on the edit, Flex may automatically update:
Connected walls
Room boundaries
Flooring areas
Interior dimensions
Exterior dimensions
Doors and windows hosted on the wall
Wall labels
Because many parts of the floor plan are connected, a single wall adjustment may update several nearby elements automatically.
After completing a major edit, it’s always a good idea to review the surrounding geometry to ensure everything matches the existing space.
Troubleshooting
I can’t move the wall any farther.
The wall has likely reached a movement limit.
Inspect nearby walls, doors, windows, or connected corners that may be preventing additional movement.
The wrong wall moved.
If multiple connected walls moved together, you likely selected a shared wall corner instead of the wall itself.
To move only one wall, select the wall body before dragging.
My room disappeared.
Small gaps between connected walls can prevent Flex from recognizing a room.
Zoom in and verify that all walls connect cleanly.
If necessary, reconnect the wall endpoints.
Interior dimensions disappeared.
First, verify that Interior Dimensions are enabled in Layers.
If dimensions are enabled, inspect nearby wall connections.
Disconnected walls or incomplete room boundaries may prevent dimensions from being generated.
My wall connected to the wrong place.
Undo the edit and try again.
Watch the snap preview before releasing the wall or endpoint.
If necessary, temporarily disable snapping to position the wall manually before reconnecting it.
I can’t enter the measurement I want.
The requested measurement may create impossible wall geometry.
Review nearby walls and hosted doors or windows that could be limiting the edit, then make smaller adjustments if necessary.
Best Practices
Enter exact measurements whenever field dimensions are available.
Move an entire wall instead of adjusting both endpoints whenever possible.
Use wall endpoints to adjust the length of a single wall.
Use shared wall corners when repositioning an entire room corner.
Zoom in before reconnecting walls or creating new wall connections.
Review nearby rooms and dimensions after making major edits.
If an edit doesn’t produce the expected result, use Undo and try a different editing approach.
