Overview

Walls are the foundation of every floor plan in Flex.

Many other features—including rooms, flooring, dimensions, elevations, and exports—are generated from your wall layout.

Keeping walls properly connected helps these features update automatically as you edit.


Wall Endpoints vs. Shared Corners

When a wall is selected, you’ll see two different types of wall vertices.

Blue Vertices (Wall Endpoints)

Blue vertices represent the end of an individual wall.

Use them to:

  • Extend a wall

  • Shorten a wall

  • Rotate a wall

  • Connect a wall to another wall


Green Vertices (Shared Corners)

Green vertices represent a corner shared by two or more connected walls.

Moving a green vertex moves every wall connected to that corner.

Use green vertices when you want to:

  • Resize an entire room

  • Adjust a room corner

  • Correct scan alignment

  • Move several connected walls together


Connecting Walls

When extending a wall toward another wall, continue dragging until the endpoint snaps into place before releasing.

A properly connected wall helps Flex automatically:

  • Detect rooms

  • Generate flooring

  • Display interior dimensions

  • Generate elevations

  • Produce accurate exports

If two walls only appear to touch—but aren’t actually connected—you may experience unexpected behavior.


Snapping

Snapping helps walls connect accurately without requiring perfect placement.

Depending on what you’re editing, Flex may snap to:

  • Wall endpoints

  • Shared corners

  • Wall edges

  • Wall centerlines

  • Angle increments

Web

Hold Shift while dragging to temporarily disable snapping for finer control.

iPhone & iPad

Snap types can be enabled or disabled from the Settings panel. You can also drag beyond the snap tolerance to intentionally ignore a snap point.


Why Wall Connections Matter

Walls in Flex are connected geometry.

Editing one wall may automatically update:

  • Connected corners

  • Doors, windows, and openings

  • Room boundaries

  • Flooring

  • Measurements

This helps keep the floor plan synchronized as you work.


Troubleshooting Wall Connections

If rooms, flooring, or dimensions aren’t updating correctly:

  1. Zoom in to the affected corner.

  2. Verify the walls are actually connected.

  3. Look for:

    • Small gaps

    • Overlapping walls

    • Misaligned endpoints

  4. Use the wall editing tools to reconnect the geometry.

Many editing issues are caused by wall connections that appear correct when zoomed out but aren’t actually joined.


Best Practices

  • Complete major wall edits before creating flooring.

  • Use green vertices when moving an entire room corner.

  • Use blue vertices when extending or shortening a single wall.

  • Zoom in before making precise wall edits.

  • Review nearby rooms after moving major wall geometry.

Using the Wrong Vertex

Use blue vertices for individual walls.

Use green vertices for shared room corners.


Walls Look Connected—but Aren’t

Walls that nearly touch may prevent rooms, flooring, and dimensions from updating correctly.

Always zoom in and verify corners are clean.

💡 Pro tip: if you hover your mouse (web) over an intersection, or select one of its walls, it should clearly be mitered in a way that shows the connection is either good or bad.


Disabling Snapping Unnecessarily

Snapping helps maintain clean wall geometry.

Only disable snapping when making intentional free-form adjustments.


Frequently Asked Questions

Why didn’t my room update?

Most commonly, two walls aren’t fully connected.

Inspect the nearby wall junctions and reconnect them if necessary.


Why did another wall move?

You moved a green shared corner, which adjusts every wall connected to that vertex.


Why did my flooring move?

Flooring is linked to wall geometry whenever possible, allowing it to follow wall edits automatically.


Why are my dimensions missing?

Interior dimensions are generated automatically from connected wall geometry.

If the Interior Dimensions layer is enabled but dimensions are still missing, inspect nearby wall junctions for small gaps or disconnected walls.
