Auto-Clean (called Fine-Tune in the RENDR iOS app) is designed to quickly clean up small geometry imperfectionsthat occasionally occur during scanning.
It’s especially useful for larger scans, older projects created before RENDR 3.0, or projects where a few walls need a little help connecting correctly.
Think of Auto-Clean as a first-pass cleanup tool—not a replacement for good scanning technique or manual editing.
Auto-Clean can:
✅ Connect walls that should already be joined
✅ Remove overlapping or duplicate wall segments
✅ Straighten walls that are only slightly off angle
✅ Improve room detection by cleaning up wall geometry
💡 Pro Tip
Run Auto-Clean before manually editing your floor plan.
It often fixes dozens of small geometry issues in just a few seconds, allowing you to spend your time making meaningful edits instead of repairing tiny wall connections.
Best Practices
💡 Start with the default Strength setting before increasing it.
💡 Always review the Preview before applying changes.
💡 Use Auto-Clean after opening older scans created before RENDR 3.0.
💡 If rooms stop generating after several wall edits, running Auto-Clean again can often reconnect small gaps.
💡 Good scans should require very little cleanup. Auto-Clean works best as a finishing tool—not a routine part of every project.
How to Run Auto-Clean
To use Auto-Clean:
Open the desired Space.
Switch to Edit mode.
Select Layout mode.
Tap Auto-Clean (Fine-Tune).
Enable Preview.
Review the proposed changes.
Adjust the Strength slider if necessary.
Tap Apply to save the changes.
If you exit Auto-Clean without tapping Apply, your floor plan remains unchanged.
Understanding the Strength Slider
The Strength slider controls how aggressively Auto-Clean adjusts the floor plan.
Strength | Recommended Use |
Lower | Small corrections to already clean scans. |
Medium | Best starting point for most projects. |
Higher | Larger cleanup for scans with more noticeable angle or connection issues. |
If the preview doesn’t produce the results you expect, adjust the Strength and preview the changes again before applying them.
What Auto-Clean Fixes
Issue | How Auto-Clean Helps |
Walls almost touch but don’t connect | Connects nearby wall endpoints when appropriate. |
Duplicate or overlapping wall segments | Removes unnecessary wall geometry. |
Slightly crooked walls | Straightens walls that are only slightly off angle. |
Rooms won’t generate | Often restores room detection by improving wall geometry. |
What Auto-Clean Doesn’t Do
Auto-Clean is designed to improve existing geometry—not redesign your floor plan.
It will not:
Rebuild an incorrect floor plan
Move walls to entirely new locations
Replace manual editing
Correct major scanning errors
After Auto-Clean finishes, you can manually adjust any remaining walls using the standard Layout editing tools.
Recommended Workflow
For the fastest editing experience:
Scan the space.
Run Auto-Clean.
Review the preview.
Apply the cleanup.
Make any remaining manual wall edits.
Confirm all rooms are generating correctly.
Continue with room names, flooring, markup, and exports.
Troubleshooting
If… | Try This |
Rooms won’t generate | Run Auto-Clean, then inspect the remaining wall connections. |
Walls still look crooked | Increase the Strength slightly or manually straighten the remaining walls. |
A room disappears after editing walls | Run Auto-Clean again to reconnect small wall gaps. |
The preview doesn’t look right | Lower the Strength or exit without applying the changes. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I run Auto-Clean on every project?
No. High-quality scans often require little or no cleanup.
Can I run Auto-Clean more than once?
Yes. It’s common to run Auto-Clean again after making substantial wall edits if room detection changes unexpectedly.
Why didn’t Auto-Clean fix every wall?
Auto-Clean corrects small geometry issues. Larger layout changes should be completed manually using the editing tools.
