  • Why older Field Notes export differently

  • How Field Notes work in RENDR 3.0 and later

  • How to export legacy Field Notes

  • What to do if your Space isn’t part of a Project

Overview

With the release of RENDR 3.0 (Flex), Field Notes became part of the new Markup experience.

Instead of creating Field Notes as a separate export, you now place notes, symbols, text, and other annotations directly on the floor plan using the Markup tools. When exporting a PDF, simply enable the appropriate Markup layers in the PDF Export dialog to include your Field Notes on the exported drawing.

If your scan was created before RENDR 3.0, your original Field Notes are still available—they’re just exported using the legacy workflow described below.

RENDR Principle

Legacy Field Notes haven’t been removed. They’re simply exported from the Project instead of the Space.

Exporting Legacy Field Notes

If your Field Notes were created before RENDR 3.0:

1. Open the Project

Navigate to the Project that contains the Space with the Field Notes you want to export.

2. Select the Export button

In the upper-right corner of the Project, select the Export icon.

3. Export the Project

Choose Export Project.

RENDR generates a ZIP file containing the project’s legacy exports, including the original Field Notes.

4. Save the ZIP file

Choose where you’d like to save the exported ZIP file.

Once the export finishes, open the ZIP file to access the legacy Field Notes.

What If My Space Isn’t in a Project?

Legacy Field Notes can only be exported from a Project.

If your Space isn’t currently assigned to one:

  1. Create a new Project.

  2. Add the Space to that Project.

  3. Export the Project using the steps above.

For step-by-step instructions, see How to Create a Project and Add Existing Spaces.

New Field Notes in RENDR 3.0

For scans created in RENDR 3.0 and later, Field Notes are part of the Flex editing experience.

To include them in a PDF:

  1. Open the Space in Flex.

  2. Create your notes using the Markup tools.

  3. Choose Export > PDF.

  4. Enable the desired Markup layers in the PDF Export dialog.

  5. Generate your PDF.

Your markup and Field Notes will be included directly on the exported floor plan. Read more about the new RENDR Flex Field Notes here!
